Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Summary: A solid well established corporation in the downtown Chicago area of Illinois is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join their technology team.  The company is growing and looking to add a key technology manager.

Responsibilities:

• Support our customers resolving incidents within contracted SLA’s

• Effectively interact with customers whose skills may range to Level 3 expert network engineers

• Engineer and implement managed service solutions

• Occasional face to face interactions with customers in pre-sales support role, installations, or onsite support needs

• Build & configure firewalls, servers, routers and other IT appliances

• Document and diagram client’s environments

• SAN & tape management

• Patch management

• Rotate on call support

Experience:

• Must have experience with an emphasis on client or customer support as a security and network engineer

• Must have solid expertise with Checkpoint Firewalls and certification is highly desired

• Cisco experience required and certifications are highly desired

• In depth experience with building and maintaining Microsoft servers, patches and upgrades

• In-depth PC knowledge (Microsoft systems, registry settings, third party software, and active directory)

• Proven record of organization and documentation skills

• Minimum of 3-5 years security, network engineering and support experience

• Self motivated and comfortable in a fast-paced startup culture

• A “smart risk-taker” marked by creativity and strong problem solving skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and oral

• BA/BS in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience

• Expertise with a variety of tools used for monitoring and managing networks

• Experience in assessing and reporting against SLA’s

• Citrix experience and certifications are a plus

• Advanced security certifications are a plus

• Experience with Juniper, Solarwinds, EIQ, Nagios, Web technologies, McAfee, WebSense, F5 are all pluses

This is a full time permanent position.  The permanent salary with our client would be between $70,000 and $80,000.  This position includes a 20% bonus, paid quarterly and largely dependant on your success.  Our client has full benefits; medical, 401k, vacation, etc.
